Lancers Top Stars 4-1 in Corn Cup Matchup

LINCOLN, NE - The Omaha Lancers played host to the Lincoln Stars for game two of the 2020 Corn Cup at the Ice Box. Sunday was the first preseason game of the season for the Lancers.

After drawing blanks on two power-plays, Alex Gaffney (12:00) tipped the puck in off a shot from Hunter McDonald to get the Lancers ahead 1-0. Lincoln drew their third power-play to get on the board at 17:57 to tie the game 1-1 going into the first intermission.

The Lancers would break the tie when Tyler Carpenter (6:05) snapped the puck in from an Alex Gaffney pass making the score 2-1. The Lancers killed off three Lincoln power-plays in the 2nd period to keep the score 2-1 going into the second intermission.

In the third period, and on the power-play Tyler Carpenter (7:29) netted his second goal of the game. Late in the period, Nolan Renwick (17:44) added an empty-net goal to get the Lancers the 4-1 win over the Stars.

The Lancers are 1-0-0-0 in the preseason and are tied for first place with the Tri-City Storm in the Corn Cup.

The Lancers return to the ice on Wednesday, October 21st to face the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, NE. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM. All of the action will be on HockeyTV.
