Rochester Lancers News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers generated over $6,000 for the Spirit of Blue at Saturday's home game. The team's first responders tribute included a custom jersey auction amongst other in-game fundraising. The funds raised support a safety equipment grant for local RPD officers.
"The Lancers organization has a very giving heart and pulled out all the stops to try and benefit Spirit of Blue and fund this Safety Equipment Grant to the Rochester Police Department," said Ryan Smith, Executive Director of Spirit of Blue. "The Lancers raised over $6,000 thus far and will look to raise a little more during their next upcoming game on Thursday, January 1st."
The team wore custom tribute jerseys with the Rochester Police Department crest on the front as they took on the league's best, Baltimore Blast. The jerseys were in honor of RPD Officer Daryl Pierson, who was killed in the line of duty. The game-worn jerseys were then auctioned after the game. Officer Pierson's wife and kids were honorary captains for the game and his son performed the ceremonial kick to Lancers Captain Mauricio Salles.
The Lancers will present a check at their next home game, this Thursday, January 1 at 4pm. Proceeds from ticket sales and other in-game fundraisers will also continue to raise money for this initiative. Senator Rich Funke, fresh off taking his oath for office and being named to the Lancers Wall of Fame, will be the Honorary Captain. To purchase game tickets, or to donate, visit www.RLancers.com.
The Lancers host rival Syracuse on Thursday, January 1st. Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans receive free cow bells! Individual game tickets are now on sale for $10 and $15 for all fans over the age of two. For individual tickets, season tickets, or group sales, call the Lancers office at (585) 872-5425.
