July 28, 2012 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Pulaski Mariners News Release

Pulaski, VA- Gilmer Lampe's clutch pinch hit in the bottom of ninth propelled the M's past the Royals Saturday night at Historic Calfee Park.

Heading into the ninth inning, Pulaski trailed Burlington 5-6. RHP David Holman took over on the mound for the M's in the top of the inning. Holman faced the heart of Burlington's lineup and came out on top as he threw 12 pitches allowing one hit, no runs, and struck out the last batter of the inning giving his team a chance at a comeback.

Tyler Marlette led off the bottom of the inning with a sharp single up the middle. Bryan Brito then laid down a picture perfect sacrifice bunt advancing Marlette to second. Royals closer Jossiel Martinez then walked Martin Peguero on five pitches putting runners on first and second with one out. At this point Mariners coaching staff made the decision to pinch-hit for next batter, Felipe Burin (1-4), with Gilmer Lampe. Lampe did not let his coaches regret their decision as he blasted a line drive into the left-center gap scoring Marlette and Peguero. The hit gave the Mariners their 13th win on the year and their 3rd in walk-off fashion.

Game Note: OF Jabari Henry hit his second homerun of the year en route to a 3 for 4 night (HR, 2B, 1B). Pulaski will travel to Danville tomorrow where they will begin a three games series against the Braves. The M's will be returning to Historic Calfee Park Wednesday, 7 p.m., as they take on the Princeton Rays.
