Lakeland Raiders, Total Body Conditioning and Body By Vi Join Forces to Help Fight Obesity

LAKELAND, FL - The Lakeland Raiders, Total Body Conditioning (TBC) of Lakeland and ViSalus Sciences are looking for six participants to take the ViSalus Sciences, Lakeland Raiders Body by Vi Three Month Local Challenge. Contestants will receive a monthly Visalus Transformation kit and complete access to the Total Body and Conditioning Center for daily work-outs with the assistance of TBC's highly trained professional staff. Weigh-ins will be held each Friday and the winner will receive a Raiders Prize Pack valued at over $1000 and be entered for a chance to win at the national level. The Body by Vi"! Challenge is an innovative fitness solution designed for all health levels and will run November 1st through January 30th. To be eligible, participants must need to lose a minimum of 40 lbs and be willing to discuss the Raiders commitment to fighting obesity. The six selected participants will be announced at a press conference at the TBC One Year Anniversary Party on November 1st from 4pm - 7pm at 5705 S. Florida Avenue in Lakeland. The Raiders will report weekly progress on the official Lakeland Raiders website. The winner will be honored at a Lakeland Raiders home game and will receive a grand prize package valued at over $1000. They will also be entered to win one of more than $10 million dollars in prizes offered at the national level.
The Raiders' organization will also be participating in the Body by Vi Challenge. Owner Michael Mink has been on the challenge for two months and has lost 28lbs since starting the program. "I feel great and my energy level makes me feel like a 28 year old again. I decided to start this program a few months ago to continue my transformation into a healthier lifestyle." The Raiders Operations Manager Feddy Azofeifa and QB Coach Matt Grothe Sr. will also be participating in the Challenge. "This is something new to me but being one month into the program; you can see there is something special happening. This challenge is about feeling good and feeling healthy" said Azofeifa when asked about his commitment to the challenge.
In the United States, 66% of the population is overweight and over 30% are clinically obese. Obesity has easily found its way to the top of the list of out of control national health epidemics. Overweight and obese people have an increased incidence of heart disease, and thus fall victim to heart attack, congestive heart failure, sudden cardiac death, angina, and abnormal heart rhythm more often than those that maintain a healthy body mass index. The Body by Vi program can also be used for some that want to slim down, tone up or build muscle.
