Kissimmee Kreatures News Release
KISSIMMEE, Fla. Will Glover, who wasn't at first listed to play, ran back a pair of kickoffs, caught another ball for a score, as Nunnie Booker's two first-quarter rushing touchdowns built a Lakeland lead it would not surrender and the ThunderBolts lashed out in a 61-41 win over the Kissimmee Kreatures Saturday night in a National Indoor Football League game.
Greg Golden, a newcomer out of North Carolina State, ran back a 55-yard kickoff for a score to give Lakeland (5-8) a 19-7 margin at 14:09 of the second quarter.
The closest Kissimmee (2-11) could come was 19-14 on T.J. Simmons 12-yard catch from Rob Harding with 5:23 left in the first half. It didn't take Glover long, however, and the big wide receiver who had not had a kickoff return all season, went 41 yard untouched up the middle only 19 seconds after Simmons reception.
The Kreatures came to within six points twice, 40-34 and 47-41 with 11:07 left in the fourth quarter.
Each time the Bolts had an answer. Raymond Hardy's 5-yard reception from Jeremy Martin to open the 4th-quarter scoring gave Lakeland a 47-34 margin.
After William LaFann's 7-yard jaunt into the end zone closed the lead again for Kissimmee to 6 points, Martin hooked up with Tavarius Johnson for his 12-scoring play of the season.
On the Kissimmee side of the ball, James Panui had 203 all-purpose yards along with one touchdown pass of 7 yards. It was his eighth receiving score of the season.
Martin, who has missed three games in overcoming staph infection, was a quiet 14 of 17 with one interception for a game-high 94 yards. The four TD passes lifts his season total to 34.
Quarterback Rod Harding of Kissimmee had three passing TDs and ran another in. He was 19 of 34 with two picks but had 201 total yards.
The Kreatures head to Corpus Christi for a meeting against the Hammerheads (4-9)
Lakeland was to travel to New Jersey next weekend, but the league has since folded the Xtreme.
