Lake Michigan Admirals News Release

St. Joseph, MI- The Lake Michigan Admirals ABA franchise started their inaugural season Saturday night playing against the fifth-ranked Chicago Steam. A crowd of approximately 900 people at Lake Michigan Catholic High School was on their feet all game long! Admirals fans had a lot to cheer for: the Lighthouse Barbershop Chorus sang the national anthem, the Benton Harbor High School drum line electrified the crowd, the Lady Admirals dancers got people dancing to the beat, the Subway half-court shot was made by a young man from Muskegon, and the United Way Awareness Night was a huge success!

The first quarter of the game ended with the Admirals ahead 31-28. The momentum continued into the second quarter with the home team up 58 - 51. Odgra Bobo was the leading scorer for the Admirals with 31 points with 25 of those points before the half. After halftime, Chicago came out fighting and outscored the Admirals 32-25 in the third quarter to tie the game up 83-83. Owner Chris Glisson said, "This is what the fans came out to see!" But he spoke too soon because Chicago wasn't out of STEAM as they dominated the fourth quarter and outscored the Admirals 46 - 25. The final score was 129 - 108 Chicago Steam. The Chicago Steam's leading scorer was Chicago State's very own Roy Perrin with 32 points. Currently the The Steam is 6 - 1 for the season and the Admirals are 0 - 1.
