The Cleveland Guardians Player Development System announced the following Lake County Captains roster transactions today.

- 8/4: C Logun Clark, RHP Ryan Degges, and LHP Michael Kennedy promoted to Double-A Akron RubberDucks from Lake County.

- 8/4: INF/OF Luis De La Cruz (#16) and RHP Conner Whittaker (jersey number TBD) promoted to Captains from Single-A Hill City Howlers.

PROMOTIONS TO AKRON Clark, 23, batted .165 with 14 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 10 RBI, 25 walks to 25 strikeouts, and a .398 on-base percentage in 30 games for the Captains this season. The 2022 16th-round pick out of Taft Union HS (CA) also caught 9 runners stealing defensively for Lake County this year.

Degges, 23, was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on July 4 in exchange for international bonus pool money. After being activated from the 7-day injured list on July 24, the right-hander made 2 appearances (1 start) for the Captains, going 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA and 6 strikeouts to 4 walks in 7.1 innings pitched. Degges was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 17th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Kennedy, 21, made 18 appearances (9 starts) for the Captains this season, going 9-5 with 1 save and 64 strikeouts to just 31 walks in 70.0 innings pitched. The left-hander spent the 2025 season with Lake County as well, going 2-2 with a 3.32 ERA, 1 save, and 61 strikeouts to just 25 walks in 62.1 innings pitched. Kennedy was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Dec. 10, 2024 along with RHP Luis Ortiz and LHP Josh Hartle in exchange for INF Spencer Horwitz. He was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the 4th round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Troy HS (NY).

ADDITIONS FROM HILL CITY De La Cruz, 19, ranks top-10 in the Carolina League with an .864 OPS (3rd), a .293 batting average (4th), a .481 slugging percentage (4th), 36 stolen bases (T-6th), 52 RBI (T-9th), and 19 doubles (T-9th) at the time of his promotion. The switch-hitter is also 1 of just 6 Single-A players with 30+ extra-base hits, 30+ stolen bases, and 50+ RBI this season. De La Cruz was signed by the Cleveland Guardians as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2024 out of Pimentel, Dominican Republic.

Whittaker, 23, has made 12 combined relief appearances for the ACL Guardians (4) and Single-A Hill City Howlers (8) this year after beginning the 2026 season on the 60-day injured list. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 4.24 ERA, 2 saves, and 16 strikeouts to just 7 walks in 17.0 innings pitched this year across the ACL Guardians and Howlers. Whittaker, who was signed by the Cleveland Guardians as a non-drafted free agent out of Florida State on July 27, 2024, went 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA, 10 strikeouts to just 5 walks, and a 1.04 WHIP in 18.1 innings pitched for the Captains in 2025.

The Captains' roster currently has 28 active players, 3 inactive players (1 on the 7-day injured list and 2 on the 60-day injured list), and 1 Minor League rehab assignment.
