Lafayette Aviators News Release
The Lafayette Aviators' second doubleheader of the week yielded drastically different results from the first one that took place on Tuesday. The Aviators came away from Thursday's pair of games against the Kokomo Jackrabbits with two wins.
Game 1 remained relatively close throughout, but saw the home team win by four runs. Pitchers Connor Schultz and Luke Jaksich combined to throw an effective game, striking out six batters and giving up just six hits.
Lafayette would relinquish their lead for a brief period during the 4th inning when Kokomo scored their first two runs, but would score three runs in response to regain the lead for the remainder of the game. In the 6th, the Aviators put up three additional runs to widen the gap secure the win.
Game 2 was comfortably in Lafayette's favor from the outset, thanks to a Matthew Patton grand slam in the very 1st inning.
The visitors were never able to gain the lead in this one, as the Aviators' offense was firing on all cylinders en route to a double-digit run total. Kam Smith also contributed multiple hits as well as three runs.
Lafayette's next game will be at home on Friday against the Quincy Gems, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
