Toronto Lynx News Release

The Toronto Lady Lynx played to a 0-0 draw against the Laval Comets this afternoon at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto.

Both clubs entered this afternoon's match undefeated this season, with Toronto winning all 5 of their matches, while Laval triumphed in all four of their previous games.

Toronto came close to taking the lead in the 29th minute. Loredana Riverso picked up a through ball a spun around her marker and fired, but her shot sailed just over the crossbar.

Despite efforts by both clubs to find the back of the net, it was 0-0 at the half. Play was severally hampered by the hot and humid conditions and persistent strong winds blowing over the pitch, which allowed for a total of only four shots between both teams.

Laval came close to opening scoring five minutes into the second half when Sabrina Bellier redirected a cross towards goal, but with Toronto goalkeeper Justine Bernier was well placed to make the save the game remained scoreless.

Sylvia Forbes came close to breaking the deadlock in the 69th minute. Her impressive solo run down the left flank ended with a powerful strike that beat Laval ‘keeper Marie Bilodeau but bounced just wide of the post.

Both clubs defensive lines stood firm in the latter stages of the match and it was 0-0 at the final whistle. Toronto out-shot Laval 9-3 through 90 minutes of play.

Today's result leaves both clubs with an undefeated record, with Toronto now 5-0-1 and Laval 4-0-1. Toronto has yet to concede a goal this season.

Toronto remains in first place of the W-League's Eastern Conference-Northern Division after today's tie.

The Lady Lynx are next in action when they hit the road to take on the Ottawa Fury on July 1st in Ottawa at 7:30 PM.

Notes: Toronto's Deana Everett and Sylvia Forbes, who sit in first and second of the W-Leagues points standings, featured in today's match. Forbes is also tied for first in the goals standings, having scored 9 times so far this season.
