
Lady Eagles Draw Silverbacks 2-2

The Charlotte Lady Eagles tied the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-2 with the Charlotte goals coming from Gloria Douglas in the 1st minute and Amanda Naeher in the 17th minute. And Atlanta goals from Kristin Burton in the 50th minute and Tiffini Turpin in the 60th minute.
Charlotte opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the game when Gloria Douglas created a beautiful chance and capitalized on it to put Charlotte up 1-0.
Three minutes later Tiffini Turpin had a great opportunity to tie the game for Atlanta but Charlotte 'keeper Robyn Jones easily scooped up the shot.
Macky Wingo created two opportunities for the Lady Eagles in the 13th and 14th but the Silverback defense stood it's ground and kept Wingo from scoring.
In the 17th minute Samantha Huecker found a streaking Amanda Naeher who got past the back line and only had to beat Connie Organ, the Atlanta 'keeper. Organ came out of the net to stop her but Naeher chipped the ball over her head and into the goal to put Charlotte up 2-0.
Charlotte defender Sabbath McKiernan-Allen had a stellar night including two crucial clearances in the 23rd minute.
McKiernan-Allen's second clearance eventually found its way to Huecker who threaded through the defense and had a great opportunity to score but shot just wide.
Huecker had another great opportunity in the 27th minute but Organ easily handled the shot.
The Lady Eagles had two more opportunities from Kelsey Fenix in the 37th minute and Gloria Douglas in the 40th minute but neither could capitalize.
Charlotte held off a late surge from the Silverbacks and go into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The tone in the second half was completely different as the Silverbacks came out of the locker room with more fire.
Atlanta held possession and got a break in the 50th minute when Kristin Burton found the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of Charlotte.
Ten minutes later in the 60th minute Tiffini Turpin equalizes for Atlanta to bring the score to 2-2.
Atlanta dominated possession and looked to take the lead on several occasions but Charlotte 'keeper Robyn Jones denied 3 chances to keep the score level.
The Lady Eagles brought on fresh legs and had a few chances but both defenses played well to finish out the game with the 2-2 score and earn a point for each team.
