LA Riptide Release Event Schedule For Home Opener

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Thursday, May 24, 2007 - The Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) today announced the event schedule for their 2007 home opener against the New Jersey Pride, set for Sunday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at the Track & Field Complex at The Home Depot Center.
As part of Sunday's festivities, the Riptide will celebrate the birthday of Rippy, the team's brand new mascot, honor our country's armed forces with Military Appreciation Night, host a performance from T-Squad sponsored by Radio Disney, host the TheCoachesEye.com 3v3 Lacrosse Tournament presented by Brine Lacrosse and give away a team schedule poster.
Rippy is a 2000-pound shark born off the coast of Southern California. He will make his first official appearance for the Riptide at The Home Depot Center on Sunday.
The Riptide will take the field on Sunday for warm-ups wearing Gold Navy Shooting Shirts and they will honor both Glen Miles and William Patrick Donnelly, (who's son is Riptide defenseman Sean Donnelly) two former standout lacrosse players at the United States Naval Academy who went on to have distinguished military careers, during the game. Also noteworthy, the Riptide's current roster includes six players with ties to the United States Naval Academy.
T-Squad is a vocal and dance hip-hop/pop "supergroup" comprised of four talented young performers (Kid Karizz, Miki, Jade and Boo Boo). T-Squad will perform live for a half-hour pre-game show, with doors opening at 6 p.m.
TheCoachesEye.com 3v3 Lacrosse Tournament presented by Brine Lacrosse is a 3-on-3 mini-stick lacrosse tournament set to begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Teams will compete at three levels: middle school, high school and adult. Each player that competes in the tournament will receive one month's access to CoachesEye.com, one Brine mini stick and a ticket to the Riptide's home opener against the Pride that night. Entry fees for the tournament start at just $60.
The first 2,500 fans in attendance at Sunday's game will receive a Riptide schedule poster. The poster features Riptide attackman Michael Watson and the team's full season schedule.
The Riptide are also offering Family Packs presented by the LA Zoo for Sunday's game. The packs include four general admission tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and four tickets to the LA Zoo for just $70.
