LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy today announced that the club has signed LA Galaxy Academy product Ruben Ramos Jr. to a three-year contract beginning in 2025 through the end of the 2027 MLS season with a club option for 2028. Ramos Jr., who will occupy a Homegrown player slot, will play the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season with LA Galaxy II before being added to the Galaxy's MLS roster in 2025.
Ramos Jr., 17, is the 19th LA Galaxy Academy product in club history to sign as a Homegrown player with the Galaxy, and is the third-youngest player signing in club history behind only Efrain Alvarez (15) and Jack McBean (16). Notably, Ramos Jr. was part of the LA Galaxy Academy U-17 side that defeated Real Colorado 4-2 in the final of the 2023 U-17 MLS NEXT Cup to become champions of the tournament at Toyota Stadium on June 25, 2023.
"We are excited to announce Ruben as the latest Galaxy Academy member to sign a Homegrown contract," said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz. "Ruben's story is a testament to his character and our professional development pathway. He has steadily improved during this time with the LA Galaxy Academy, gaining invaluable experience with U.S. Youth National Team along the way before contributing to LA Galaxy II last season in MLS NEXT Pro."
At the international level, Ramos Jr. has made multiple appearances for the youth national teams of the United States at the U-15 and U-16 levels.
