
LA Galaxy II Face Real Monarchs SLC in 2015 Home Opener

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, March 20, 2015) - LA Galaxy II open the United Soccer League (USL) this Sunday, March 22 at StubHub Center's Track & Field Stadium against Real Monarchs SLC, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. PT. All of the action will be streamed live via lagalaxy.com and the club's YouTube channel with play-by-play commentary from LA Galaxy broadcast veteran Joe Tutino.
Galaxy II open their second season in USL in what will mark the first time Los Dos face expansion side Real Monarchs SLC in USL play, with both teams scheduled to play each other a total of two times during the USL regular season.
Led by head coach Curt Onalfo, the team returns a total of 11 players from the club's inaugural 2014 season in USL, as Andre Auras (MF), Kainoa Bailey (FW), Jason Bli (DF), Travis Bowen (FW), Alejandro Covarrubias (MF), Bradley Diallo (DF), Joe Franco (DF), Lee Nishanian (DF), Nicholas Shackelford (GK), Daniel Steres (DF) and Jaime Villarreal (MF) will represent Los Dos for their second-straight season.
Outside of the 11 returning Galaxy II players, Los Dos have added seven new players to its USL roster following the 2014 USL season, as Adonis Amaya (FW), Clement Diop (GK), Ryo Fujii (MF), Ariel Lassiter (FW), Eric Lopez (GK), Elijah Martin (MF) and Dave Romney (DF) round out the team's first-year players who were signed this offseason.
In 2014, Galaxy II fell short of reaching the final in its inaugural season in 2014 after to dropping a 3-2 result to Sacramento Republic FC on the road at Bonney Field in the USL Semifinal game. Los Dos finished in third place in the USL PRO Regular Season standings with a 15-7-6 record, good enough for 51 points.
Under the direction of head coach Freddy Juarez, Real Monarchs will open their inaugural USL season against LA Galaxy II on Sunday. Established in 2014 by Major League Soccer parent club Real Salt Lake, Real Monarchs are scheduled to play their home games at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.
Galaxy II will play 14 USL Regular Season games at home during the 2015 campaign. A complete LA Galaxy II 2015 schedule can be found here. All LA Galaxy II matches will be streamed live on www.lagalaxy.com with home matches broadcast by Time Warner Cable lead announcer Joe Tutino along with Ralph Perez.
Season tickets to Galaxy II are $48 while single-game tickets can be purchased for $10 each. To purchase tickets, fans can visit www.lagalaxy.com/2 or call 877-3GALAXY (342-5299). All children ages 12 and under will receive free admission to all Galaxy II home games. Additionally, all home matches for Galaxy II will feature free parking.
