LA Galaxy II News Release
LOS ANGELES - LA Galaxy II today announced that Yoann Damet has been appointed as the club's head coach.
Damet, 31, most recently served as an assistant coach for the U-20 United States National Team that participated in the Revelations Cup in November of 2021. Prior to his stint with the U-20 USMNT, Damet was part of FC Cincinnati's coaching staff (2017-21), where he was an assistant coach and served as interim head coach in 2019 and 2020.
"Yoann is a very knowledgeable young coach who has a great understanding of both the MLS and the USL Championship," said LA Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney. "His coaching vision and values align with those of the LA Galaxy, and we're excited to integrate him into our organization."
During FC Cincinnati's 2018 USL Championship regular-season campaign, Damet, who holds a U.S. Soccer Pro License, helped coach the club to a 23-3-8 record and the 2018 USL regular-season championship. In his first match as Cincinnati's interim head coach, Damet, who was 29 years old at the time, led the club to a 2-1 win over CF Montréal on May 11, 2019. Additionally, Damet was part of the FC Cincinnati coaching staff that reached the semifinal of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
"We are pleased to name Yoann as the head coach of LA Galaxy II," said LA Galaxy Director of Methodology and Development Michael Muñoz. "He brings valuable experience in both youth development and professional coaching, and I look forward to working with him to continue to strengthen the player pathway into the first team."
Prior to joining FC Cincinnati, Damet coached in CF Montréal's Academy (2014-17), where he spent four seasons and obtained his Canada Soccer A License in 2016. The Marseille, France, native joined Montreal from French side Dijon FCO (2013-14), where he served as a coach for various youth sides. Damet began his managerial career at the age of 16 with Beaune FC (2006-11), where he spent five years. He then moved on to coach Jura Sud Foot (2011-13) for two years and obtained his UEFA A coaching license through the French Football Federation in 2012.
