LA Galaxy News Release

LOS ANGELES - After a week away from competition, the LA Galaxy resume MLS play on Saturday, August 15, where they take on the Houston Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium at 5:30 p.m. PT on Apple TV. The extra time between matches provided an opportunity for the squad to sharpen its preparations on the training pitch and reinforce the roster with new signings as the Galaxy continue their push through the second half of the season.

LA Galaxy vs Houston Dynamo

The LA Galaxy face the Houston Dynamo for the 44th time in regular-season play, with the Galaxy holding a 14-15-14 all-time record in the series. In matches played at Shell Energy Stadium, LA owns a 7-10-5 mark against Houston. While the Dynamo have maintained a narrow edge historically, recent meetings between the clubs have been closely contested, with each of the last three matchups ending in a 1-1 draw. Prior to that stretch, Houston claimed 2-1 victories in both meetings during the 2024 campaign. The 2025 season featured dramatic finishes in both contests, as Lucas Sanabria scored a stoppage-time equalizer in Houston in September and Diego Fagúndez found the back of the net in the second half in Los Angeles in April to help the Galaxy earn a point while playing shorthanded. Most recently, the sides battled to a 1-1 draw in Matchday 15 of the 2026 season, with Joseph Paintsil opening the scoring in the 28th minute before Houston answered before halftime.

LA Galaxy Recent Results

After setbacks against LAFC and St. Louis CITY SC, the Galaxy responded by earning valuable points in consecutive draws, first securing a 1-1 result against the San Jose Earthquakes in the California Clasico at Stanford Stadium before playing FC Dallas to a scoreless draw at Dignity Health Sports Park. Those results improved the club's league record to 5-7-7 and provided positive momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Off the field, the Galaxy have continued to strengthen the roster with the additions of Hirving "Chucky" Lozano and Sergi Roberto, bringing proven international experience and quality to a team firmly in the playoff race. Their arrivals follow the acquisitions of Robert Taylor and Kygo Furuhashi, further bolstering the squad ahead of a critical run of matches. With the Galaxy sitting just three points outside the playoff positions, the influx of veteran leadership and attacking talent hopes to provide a significant lift as the club pushes toward a place in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
