LA Galaxy News Release
.A. GALAXY CONCLUDE ROAD TRIP WITH FINAL VISIT OF 2004 TO SAN JOSE: The Los Angeles Galaxy (10-8-8, 38 pts - 3rd West) travel to Northern California for the final time of the 2004 regular season for a match against the San Jose Earthquakes (9-10-7, 34 pts - 5th West) on Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 pm (PT) at Spartan Stadium. The match will come just two weeks after the Galaxy took a 2-1-0 lead in the season series with a convincing 2-1 win at The Home Depot Center in Carson. The California Clasico takes on added importance this time around, as the teams continue to jockey for playoff positioning in MLS' Western Conference (see related note below). The crucial game will be broadcast live on radio throughout Southern California in both English (KMPC 1540 AM) and Spanish (KMXE 830 AM). This very important match will also be televised (tape-delayed) on KCAL-9, beginning at 8:00 pm (PT).
WESTERN CONFERENCE UPDATE - FOUR WEEKS REMAINING IN THE 2004 REGULAR SEASON: The Western Conference playoff race continues to be one of the most competitive in Major League Soccer history, with all five teams separated by a grand total of seven points entering play next weekend. The race could get all the more jumbled with two crucial inter-conference match-ups on the weekend. Not only will the Galaxy and the Earthquakes tangle in San Jose, but also the Kansas City Wizards, atop the table with 41 points, will host the second-placed Colorado Rapids (39). The Dallas Burn (presently in fourth place) also have a difficult match, traveling to the East Coast to play a MetroStars team that is second in the other conference. With no playoff berths yet clinched in the West and the majority of the remaining matches coming against Conference opponents, each team will control their own destiny down the stretch.
TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR GALAXY'S EXPECTED SELLOUT ON McDONALDS/AYSO DAY OCTOBER 2: Following a home sellout on September 11 against the San Jose Earthquakes, the Los Angeles Galaxy return to The Home Depot Center on Saturday, October 2 for a Western Conference battle against the Kansas City Wizards on McDonalds/AYSO Day. Tickets are still available. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Galaxy ticket off toll-free at 1-877-3GALAXY.
"GUATEMALAN NIGHT" ACTIVITIES TO CENTER AROUND OCT. 2 GAME AS WELL: In addition
their match against the Wizards on Oct. 2, the Galaxy and the Christian Latin
Business Association (CLBA) will host a special night for Guatemalans in the
Southland. Among the activities planned are a fund-raiser to fight infant mortality
in Guatemala and a job fair where the Latino Community of Southern California will
have the chance to directly apply for jobs. Several area businesses will be looking
for qualified bilingual applicants, which are in high demand in Los Angeles
Metropolitan area. For more information please contact Jose Espinosa at (866)

defensive miscues and the Dallas Burn helped further tighten the Western Conference
playoff race by defeating the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl.
Johnson took advantage of an early defensive mistake and later slotted home the
rebound of a Jason Kreis shot to provide the game's only scoring and pull himself
into a four-way tie atop the MLS goal-scoring chart. The speedy U.S. international
now has 11 goals on the season, as do Brian Ching of the San Jose Earthquakes,
Carlos Ruiz of the Galaxy and Pat Noonan of the New England Revolution. MAS GALAXY PREVIEWS THE GALAXY AND THE QUAKES: Más Galaxy, the club's
