L.A. Avengers to hold open tryout camp on Nov. 3

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League will hold a free agent tryout camp on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Avenger Training Facility, which is located at West Los Angeles College in Culver City.

The daylong session will begin with registration at 8 a.m.

Avenger head coach Ed Hodgkiss and his staff will be on hand to evaluate players.

The address of the Avenger Training Facility is 1000 Freshman Drive, Culver City, Calif. 90230.

The tryout will be conducted on FieldTurf. Therefore, each participant should be mindful of wearing the proper shoes. A $50 registration fee will be charged and a waiver release form will need to be signed during registration.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. Prospective players should provide: name, height, weight, position, playing experience, telephone number and address, and mail a $50 check or money order to: Los Angeles Avengers, 12100 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 400, Los Angeles 90064.

In addition, please send any player biographies and/or game film to Avenger assistant player personnel director Gene Miranda at the above address.

The Avengers' seventh season of play in the AFL will kickoff in late January.

Los Angeles went 10-6 this past season on its way to winning the AFL's Western Division Championship. In capturing their first division title, the Avengers qualified for the ArenaBowl Playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

Several Avenger players had career seasons in 2005. Wide receiver/defensive back Kevin Ingram was honored as the AFL's "U.S. Army Ironman of the Year," offensive/defensive lineman Silas Demary earned both the league's "ADT Defensive Player of the Year" and "Lineman of the Year" awards, and kicker Remy Hamilton took home "Kicker of the Year" honors.

Last season, the Avengers averaged 12,165 fans at their eight home games at STAPLES Center.

Fifty dollar deposits for 2006 Avenger season tickets, which include nine games played at STAPLES Center, are now being accepted at 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com.
