Kyle Cuffe Joins Rainmen

March 3, 2011 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Halifax Rainmen News Release

Halifax Rainmen are pleased to announce the arrival of 6-foot-9, 245-pound Centre, Kyle Cuffe.

During the 2009-10 off-season, Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston, heavily scouted Cuffe. In addition to interest from Halifax, Cuffe was invited to the New Jersey Nets' free agent camp.

This October, Cuffe was selected as the Rainmen's second-round pick in the 2010 PBL draft. Soon after, he was presented with an offer to play for the Springfield Armor in the NBA Development League, from which he was released to make room for a player who was sent down from the NBA.

Upon his recent release, Cuffe phoned Levingston to express his interest in joining the Rainmen.

"We were excited to draft Kyle this summer and were disappointed to lose his talents to the D-league," said Levingston. "We're very happy to have him back; he has looked great at practice this week. He will be the best big we've ever had for this franchise."

During his time in Springfield, Cuffe averaged 7.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17 minutes per game. He scored a season-high of 28 points against the Maine Red Claws.

The Rainmen will return to the Metro Centre on Saturday, March 5 where they will re-play their February 4 overtime match-up against the Kebs at 1:00, followed by their regular scheduled game at 1:30.

This weekend's game tickets have been set at the special rate of $5 for children and students. Tickets can be purchased at any Ticket Atlantic location or at the Metro Centre Box Office. For group rate inquiries, please visit www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
