Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE - Frank Kremblas, who has led the Nashville Sounds to division titles in each of his first two seasons at the club's helm and piloted the Sounds to the 2005 PCL championship, will return to Music City for his third year of service as the club's manager in 2007. The announcement was made by Milwaukee Brewers Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Melvin.
Pitching coach Stan Kyles and trainer Jeff Paxson also return for their third consecutive seasons at the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville during the upcoming season.
New hitting coach Harry Spilman joins the Nashville staff in 2007 replacing Gary Pettis, who was hired as the Texas Rangers' first base coach in November after spending two years with the Sounds.
Kremblas - the 21st manager in the Sounds' 30-year franchise history - led the Sounds to their third division title in the past four seasons in 2006 and currently ranks fifth in club history with 151 managerial wins through his first two campaigns.
The 40-year-old, who enters his third season as a Triple-A manager and eighth year overall as an instructor in the Brewers organization, has compiled a 499-477 record (.511) in his nine seasons as a minor league manager.
Kyles, serving his seventh season in the Brewers organization, will log his fourth year as Triple-A pitching coach in 2007 when he returns to the Nashville bench. His 2006 Sounds pitching staff led the Pacific Coast League with a 3.62 ERA, the club's best mark in 12 years, and produced a league co-leading 12 shutouts.
Spilman, who served as the Houston Astros' hitting coach for parts of five seasons from 2000-04, joins the Brewers organization in 2007 as the Sounds' hitting coach after spending the last two years in the same capacity with the Triple-A Round Rock Express in the Astros' farm system.
Paxson, who capped off last season by working as a trainer in the 2006 Arizona Fall League, will serve his sixth year as Milwaukee's Class AAA trainer.
Nigel Price rounds out the 2007 Sounds staff as the club's strength and conditioning coach.
Season tickets, mini-plan packages, and group outing plans for the 2007 season are currently on sale. Contact the Sounds at 615-242-4371 or visit www.nashvillesounds.com to order or for details.
