
Knoxville's Connor Toomey Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (February 6, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Connor Toomey of the Knoxville Ice Bears is the Easton Player of the Week for January 28-February 3.
Toomey went 2-0-0, posting a 3.00 goals against average and a .919 save percentage, stopping 73 of 74 shots last week.
On Friday, the native of Burlington, MA stopped 47 of 49 shots as he backstopped Knoxville to a 3-2 win over Fayetteville. Toomey stopped 17 shots in both the first and third periods, as helped keep Fayetteville scoreless in six power-play attempts. Toomey came back on Saturday with 25 saves in a 6-4 win over Huntsville.
Toomey, who played four seasons with the Milwaukee School of Engineering, finished his collegiate career with a 48-17-4 record, 2.13 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. In his junior season, Toomey was named the 2010-11 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) Player of the Year when he went 13-3-1 with a 1.74 goals against average. He was also named to the 2011-12 MCHA All-Conference and All-Tourney teams as he backstopped the Raiders to a 4-3 overtime win over Adrian College in the MCHA Championship Game and a berth in the NCAA Division III Hockey Championship.
