March 28, 2016 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release

FC Edmonton's 2016 North American Soccer League (NASL) season kicks off this Saturday, April 2 at Miller Stadium versus expansion club Rayo OKC, with the Eddies aiming to open up their campaign with a victory. FCEdmonton.com profiles this year's Eddies squad, beginning with the goalkeepers.

Matt VanOekel

Matt VanOekel assumed the starting role for the Eddies after arriving in Edmonton for the 2015 season. The six-foot-four 'keeper finished with a 1.47 Goals Against Average (GAA) through 25 appearances last year, collecting a total of 2,205 minutes. The 29-year-old signed with the Eddies after spending several seasons in Minnesota, where he was a part of the team during their 2011 Championship season, 2012 runner-up season and their 2014 Spring Season Championship. Tyson Farago

Winnipeg native Tyson Farago returns for his third season with the Eddies. The 24-year-old 'keeper was impressive during a two-year stint with the Canadian Interuniversity Sport's (CIS) Winnipeg Wesmen, where he tied a league-record for single saves in a season. Farago was also successful at the Premier Development League (PDL) level, where he was named a Conference All-Star in 2013. Most recently, Farago was called up for his first Canadian national team senior camp alongside fellow Eddies Mallan Roberts and Nik Ledgerwood. Follow Farago on Twitter: @tysonjfarago

Nathan Ingham

Arriving to the Eddies goalkeeper fold for 2016 is Keswick, Ont. native Nathan Ingham, who enters his first professional season after a four-year career with NCAA Division 1's Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Ingham, 22, was named A-Sun Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in 2015. During the 2015 Premier Development League (PDL) season, Ingham captured the league championship as a member of Kitchener-Waterloo (K-W) United, while also being named Tournament MVP. "I think it's the best trio of goalkeepers that we've had here since I have been at the club," FC Edmonton goalkeeper coach Darren Woloshen stated. "It's a good mix of experience with youth and ability...Matt has really come into his own this season right from day one of training camp. He came in ultra fit, ultra ready to play and has been great. Tyson going off with the national team was a bonus for him from a psychological standpoint, although he was already in a great place after last season and the arrival of Nathan who is just a spectacular 'keeper on his own is coming out of the NCAA at a very high level."

FC Edmonton opens up the NASL regular season against Rayo OKC, April 2 at Miller Stadium before returning to Clarke Field for their Canadian Tire Home Opener against Minnesota United FC, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. Single game tickets are now on sale, call 780.700.2600 or visit www.fcedmonton.com.
