TRAVERSE CITY - Brennan Knoblock didn't take long to get comfortable in his first North American Hockey League start, stopping all 25 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory over Springfield on Sunday in the finale of three-game series at Centre ICE Arena.

Knoblock (Macomb, MI/Couchiching OJHL), who saw his first action in the series opener on Friday in relief of Tyler Marble, was tested often, including a penalty shot in the third period that was awarded to the NAHL's top scorer, Ethan Nauman.

After more than 50 minutes of scoreless action on Sunday, the Stars (7-2-1) finally broke through against Blues goalie Andrew Martin, as Steve Behm (Grand Rapids, MI/Texas NAHL) pumped home a loose puck that arrived at Martin off the stick of defenseman Connor Schmidt (Flat Rock, MI/Little Caesars U18). It would be all the offense the Stars would need.

After a 5-2 setback on Friday, and a 2-1 overtime defeat on Saturday evening, TC head coach/GM Anthony Palumbo was pleased to have salvaged three points on the weekend.

"I thought we played well today again," he said. "In fact, we probably should have won two of three, but take nothing away from Springfield. They're a good team and it was a good test for us."

The Stars visit Janesville next weekend for a two-game set before returning to Centre ICE for a Halloween weekend series with Port Huron.
