
Knights' Nazem Kadri Named Boston Pizza OHL Player Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Nazem Kadri of the London Knights is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 28. Kadri recorded nine points in three playoff games scoring two goals and adding seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-3 to lead the Knights to a first round series win in five games over the Guelph Storm.
Kadri saved his best game of the series for the Game five finale on Friday night where he recorded a four-point game scoring the game-winning goal and adding three assists as second star of the 6-2 win. He also scored a goal and an assist as third star of the 8-2 win in Game four on Thursday night in Guelph, and recorded three assists and was named first star of the game despite a 5-4 loss on Tuesday night in Game three action. The Knights will now play the Kitchener Rangers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals beginning Thursday night in London.
Kadri, a 19-year-old from London, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season. He currently leads the OHL in playoff scoring with 14 points in five games. The seventh overall pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft had multi-point efforts in all five first round games scoring four goals and 10 assists and was named first star of the first three games.
Plymouth Whalers teammates Phil McRae and Ryan Hayes were each considered for the award this week after both forwards scored four goals and four assists for eight points in three games with identical plus-minus ratings of plus-6. Both players were instrumental in the Whalers first round series win in five games over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. In goal, Chris Carrozzi of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors won three games including a shutout victory and posted a goals-against-average of 1.30 and save percentage of.949 as the Majors swept the Peterborough Petes in four games.
