Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, January 10)... The Rochester Knighthawks unveiled their home and road sweaters today for the 2012 National Lacrosse League season. The Knighthawks also announced further plans for their home opener on Saturday, January 21 st .
"The 2012 season of Knighthawks 'No Limits Lacrosse' action at The Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester is less than two weeks away," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "We are very excited for the season and we know that the 2012 Knighthawks' players are prepared to give this city something to cheer about. With every home opener comes the anticipation of what the season has to offer and we are sure that our fans will be entertained by being able to watch some of the very best lacrosse players in the world and also by gifts and prizes available to our fans throughout the year."
When the Knighthawks open their season Saturday in Philadelphia they will sport sweaters with a new color scheme and logo. Those are the two most obvious changes to this year's sleek-looking uniforms. The traditional logo, complete with city designation and nickname, has returned for the first time since the 2009 season. The logo, however, now includes only white, teal and purple, not the usual black outline. Another addition to the sweaters is the star-studded collar, which includes a star for each of the team's 18 years in the NLL. A large star on the back of the collar signifies this year's season with 2012 written across it.
The Knighthawks will debut the road teals at the Wells Fargo Center against the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, January 14th at 7:00 p.m. The players should enjoy the new technology and breathable material. Details on how fans can purchase the Knighthawks' new uniforms will be announced at a later date.
The Knighthawks will wear their home whites on Saturday, January 21st against the Buffalo Bandits at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks will honor their Millionth Fan, which includes a trip for two to Las Vegas (hotel, airfare and $2,000 cash). The Knighthawks announced today that the millionth fan will now select a second winner to win a Vegas trip for two (airfare and hotel) between the third and fourth quarters. Fans have until halftime to register to be eligible to win.
During the team's home opener, the Knighthawks will recognize Team Rochester for winning the prestigious 2012 Brogden Cup. The team, coached by former Knighthawks Craig and Andrew Whipple, defeated Canada in Game 1 Friday night, 15-11, and followed up Saturday with a 15-8 victory to claim the Brogden Cup. A member of the team will lead the Knighthawks out onto the field Saturday, January 21 st . Knighthawks individual tickets are on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, and at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
