
Knighthawks Supporting Flower City Cup

The Rochester Knighthawks have teamed up with the American Cancer Society to help raise awareness and money for cancer research and patient programs. The Knighthawks have gotten involved with the cause by taking part in the Coaches vs. Cancer Flower City Cup, presented by Canandaigua National Bank & Trust.
"We are excited the Knighthawks and local lacrosse coaches are joining in the fight against cancer," said Michelle Vercruysse, Special Event Manger for the American Cancer Society. "The Coaches are truly influential celebrities within their communities; they can reach fans and players, sharing important information about reducing the risk of cancer by encouraging healthy lifestyle choice."
"The Knighthawks are always happy to support any organizations that raise funds for local charities in our community," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "We are especially proud to support the Flower City Cup in their efforts to raise funds in the fight against cancer. The organizers and participants are also helping the Knighthawks achieve one of our goals, which is to grow the game of lacrosse in our community, so supporting this worthwhile event is a win for everyone."
The Flower City Cup is a unique, three-day lacrosse event that will take place on the college campuses of Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College and the Rochester Institute of Technology from March 15th through 17th. Men's and women's lacrosse teams from local high schools and colleges and across the Northeast will compete while raising money for the American Cancer Society.
On Friday, March 15th and Sunday, March 17th six men's and six women's Division III lacrosse team's will each play two non-conference games on their schedules at the three area colleges, beginning with the Nazareth men's lacrosse team hosting Roger Williams at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, March 16th, nine area high schools will participate in preseason scrimmages with one women's college game at Nazareth at 5:00 p.m. between the Golden Flyers and the Fredonia State Blue Devils.
All tournament participants and spectators can purchase discounted tickets to the Knighthawks' Saturday, March 16th home game against the Edmonton Rush at 7:30 p.m. With each ticket purchased, the Knighthawks will donate $2.00 to the American Cancer Society.
