Knighthawks Sign Colin McDowall

The three-time defending champion Rochester Knighthawks have announced the signing of forward Colin McDowall.

"When an opportunity like this comes up, I am going to take it and give it all I can," said McDowall. "Obviously, I have been working out and keeping in shape."

In 2014, McDowall led the Sarnia Beavers and the Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior "B" level with 45 goals and finished third in the league with 63 points. His numbers were a result of a fantastic start, which saw him post 14 goals and four assists in the first four games of the season. McDowall admitted he took a different approach this year.

"At this point, I just tried to have fun playing," he said. "It ended up working out because I did pretty well."

It was a second straight stellar season for the Windsor, Ontario native. In 2013, McDowall was named the league MVP after ending the season seventh in the Senior "B" circuit in points. After two outstanding summers, the 25-year-old forward decided to give the NLL Combine another shot.

"I had a really good season two years ago and had a good season this year so I thought maybe my name was on the radar a little bit more," said McDowall. "I went out and thought I had a pretty solid camp."

The forward has been consistent throughout his career, producing at every level of lacrosse. In his Senior "B" career, he has collected 114 goals and 57 assists in 54 games. He has played three of his five seasons in Sarnia, while also appearing in single seasons with St. Catharines and Ohsweken. McDowall also notched impressive numbers during his five seasons of Junior "A" ball. He netted 124 goals and chipped in 100 assists in 102 games with teams in Orillia and Barrie.

McDowall attended one previous NLL Combine and was a Training Camp invitee of the Toronto Rock. He joins the Knighthawks as they prepare to open their preseason schedule Saturday, December 6th against the Minnesota Swarm.

"I am going to try to go into this with a level head," he said. "It's serious, but it's fun. I want to do really well and play my best. I am pretty excited. This whole thing has taken me by storm."
