Rochester Knighthawks News Release
For the third and final time this season, the Rochester Knighthawks will battle the East Division rival Toronto Rock. The Knighthawks head to the Air Canada Centre tonight looking to sweep the season series. Faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
Broadcast Info: The game will be broadcast on 107.3 The Bull, with the pregame show starting at 6:45 p.m. Fans can listen to the contest on their mobile devices and computers by downloading the iHeartRadio app at iHeartRadio.com. The game will also be carried live on FOX Sports GO.
Back East for One: Rochester will return to the East Division this week to meet the Toronto Rock. The Knighthawks played their two previous games against West Division foes and have an upcoming game in Calgary on Saturday, March 5th.
Matthews to add a Spark: Mr. Intensity, Joel Matthews, will make his 2016 debut tonight. He enters the game after notching career highs in goals (4), assists (9), points (13) and loose balls (17) last season.
Knighthawks add more offense: On Thursday, Rochester signed forward Mark Cockerton to a one-year deal. The second-year pro notched 28 points (11+17) in 13 games with New England in 2015.
Sid-vicious: Knighthawks team captain Sid Smith had an impressive game in Saskatoon last Saturday. The seven-year-pro tied his career-high with two points, while collecting six loose balls. Smith is one of the toughest defensemen in the NLL and will have the team ready for another hard-fought game in Toronto.
Ahead by a Century: Knighthawks forward Stephen Keogh reached the 100-assist plateau last game. The five-year pro was the second overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
On a Hot Streak: Cody Jamieson and Dan Dawson have been red hot the last two games, combining for 26 points. Jamieson has led the way with five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Dawson is close behind with 12 points on six goals and six assists.
Vinc captures Two Awards: Last week, goalie Matt Vinc received two prestigious awards. After having another incredible season, Vinc was honored as the St. Catharines Athlete of the Year. In 2015, the goalie led three teams - the Knighthawks, Peterborough Lakers and Team Canada - to playoff berths. He backstopped Canada to its fourth straight gold medal in September at the FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. He was also inducted into the Canisius College Sports Hall of Fame. "Vno" was a four-year starter on defense for the Golden Griffins (2002-05) and was a three-time team captain.
Next Game: The Knighthawks will play their third straight road game when they travel to Alberta to take on the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday, March 5th at 9:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
