Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they have re-signed forward Ken Millin to a two-year deal. The Knighthawks also inked former Six Nations (Junior "A") goalie Ben VanEvery to a three-year contract.
Millin, 33, enters his fifth season with the Rochester Knighthawks in 2009. Last season, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward finished fifth on the team with 33 points (8+25) and added 49 loose balls.
A native of Brampton, Ontario, Millin logged his best season during the 2007 campaign, recording a career best in goals (19), assists (33) and points (52) en route to capturing his fifth NLL title and first with Rochester. He finished sixth on the team in points and was one of seven players to appear in all 16 games.
Prior to his arrival to Rochester, Millin spent the majority of his career with the Toronto Rock where he helped guide the team to four league titles in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003. Millin was acquired by Rochester in a five-player, two-draft trade that sent him to the Knighthawks from the Minnesota Swarm on October 26, 2004. He broke into the NLL in 1998 with the Ontario Raiders.
VanEvery, 22, just completed the 2008 regular season with the Kahnawake Mohawks of the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League. In 13 games with the Mohawks, VanEvery posted a 10-3 record and made 393 saves to earn a 4.95 goals-against average and a .866 save percentage. He will compete for the Senior "B" Presidents' Cup in Sherwood Park, Alberta, from August 18th to August 23rd later this month.
Prior to joining the Mohawks, VanEvery spent five seasons (2003-2007) playing Junior "A" lacrosse with the Six Nations Arrows of the OLA where he has tallied 45 assists in 94 regular season games and collected 43 assists in 68 postseason contests.
A native of Six Nations, Ontario, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound goalkeeper played on four consecutive OLA championship teams from 2004-07. Last season, VanEvery was instrumental as he guided Six Nations to a Minto Cup championship en route to being named the 2007 co-winner of the Robert A. Melville Memorial Trophy as the most outstanding goalie in the Junior "A" league. He also received the award as a co-winner during the 2006 season.
He was also named a First Team All-Star for the Warrior Junior "A" squad and competed in the Junior "A" All-Star Game. He was originally selected by the Chicago Shamrocks' in the fifth round (61st overall) of the 2007 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.
