Knighthawks name Hasen captain for fifth straight season

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks announced their captains today for the 2007 National Lacrosse League season. Mike Hasen will wear the captain's "C" for the fifth straight season. For the third straight time, Regy Thorpe, John Grant and Shawn Williams will serve as alternate captains. Grant will wear the "A" only at home and Williams will serve as an alternate only during away games.

Hasen is the second longest tenured captain in team history, trailing only Randy Mearns (1996-2001). Hasen was first named team captain in 2002-03 and has held the position the past four seasons. Last season, he was named the team's Best Defenseman. Heading into his ninth season with the team, he ranks fourth on the franchise's all-time penalty minute list with 188 and is tied for third in games played with 111. He is also fifth in loose balls with 562.

Thorpe is an original member of the Knighthawks and enters his 13th season in 2007. He is the team's all-time leader in games played (154), penalty minutes (309) and loose balls (828). Further, he was named the 2006 winner of the Connors & Ferris Comeback Player of the Year award.

Grant enters his eighth season with the Knighthawks in 2007 and is a six-time NLL All-Pro. He holds the franchise's all-time records for goals (296), assists (312) and points (608). Further, he is sixth all-time in league history in points and is seventh in goals. Grant also owns the team's single-season records for goals (54), assists (56) and points (105). In addition, he has the team records for consecutive games with a goal (52), an assist (55) and a point (94). In the playoffs, Grant is the team's all-time leader in goals (39), assists (28) and points (67).

Williams enters his sixth season in Rochester after being acquired from the Buffalo Bandits in 2001. The forward is second in team history with 391 points, 176 goals and 215 assists. He also ranks ninth in goals in NLL history with 263.

The Rochester Knighthawks will open their 13th season of professional lacrosse on Saturday, December 30th against the defending National Lacrosse League champion Colorado Mammoth. Game time is set for 9:00 p.m. at the Pepsi Center. The Knighthawks return to action after making their 12th playoff appearance in the team's 12-year history. Last season, Rochester finished with a 9-7 record and advanced to the East Division Finals.
