
Knighthawks Meet First-Place Wings Saturday

(Rochester, February 28)... The Rochester Knighthawks will travel to play the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com. Fans can watch the game on NLL.com.
Head-to-Head: The game is the second of three meetings between the East Division rivals. The Knighthawks lead the series with a 23-16 record. Rochester won the first meeting of the season back on January 14th, earning a 22-12 victory at the Wells Fargo Center. Cory Vitarelli, Mike Accursi, and Cody Jamieson all had hat tricks with Vitarelli posting six points (5+1). Accursi (3+6) and Jamieson (4+5) both finished with nine points. For Philadelphia, Kevin Crowley recorded eight points (3+5) in his NLL debut. Dan Dawson (6+1) and Mike Hominuck (2+3) also had big offensive nights.
Scouting the Knighthawks: The Knighthawks (3-5) enter the game in a third-place tie in the East Division after falling 16-12 to the Toronto Rock last Friday night. Rochester got a strong effort from Cody Jamieson (2+4), Craig Point (0+4) and Jordan Hall (2+2). Jamieson extended his goal-scoring streak to 15 games and his point streak to 23. He needs three points to reach 100 in his professional career. Hall's second assist was the 200th of his career, while defenseman Dylan Evans scored his first pro goal and earned a career-best two points. Goalie Matt Vinc made 44 stops in the loss. Mike Accursi scored one goal against the Rock to give him 15 points in his last four games (6+9). Accursi is tied for ninth in the NLL with 35 points, while Jamieson is third in goals (20) and third in points (44). Transition man Brad Self is riding a four-game goal-scoring streak.
Knighthawks All-Star Recap: Four Rochester Knighthawks played in the 2012 NLL All-Star Game last Saturday in Buffalo and combined for 11 points. Mike Accursi led the effort with two goals and three assists, while Cody Jamieson notched two goals and one assist. Rookie Johnny Powless scored one goal, and defenseman Mike Kirk collected one goal and one assist for the East All-Star team.
Scouting the Wings: Philadelphia (4-3) enters the week in a first-place tie in the East Division with the Toronto Rock. The Wings' had their two-game winning streak snapped last Friday, losing 12-10 to the Edmonton Rush. Rookie Kevin Crowley continued to put up big numbers, scoring four times and adding one assist. Drew Westervelt led the effort with three goals and three assists. Crowley is eighth in the NLL with 36 points, and has moved into second place in goals with 21. Westervelt is on a torrid goal-scoring pace with 19 goals in seven games. With 13 points (8+5) in his last three games, he needs just nine goals to pass last year's total of 27.
Meanwhile, Dan Dawson leads the NLL with 39 assists and is second with 46 points. Before Saturday's game, the Wings will retire Dallas Eliuk's No. 35. The goalie played 15 seasons with Philadelphia (1991 to 2005), earning All-Pro honors nine times and receiving induction into the NLL Hall of Fame in 2009. Additionally, Eliuk is third all-time in saves in NLL history with 6,536 saves and has won four Champion's Cups.
Next Home Game: Rochester will host the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, March 10th at 1:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 5,000 fans will receive light-up thundersticks. The game will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
