
Knighthawks Head to Toronto to Stop the Rock

The Rochester Knighthawks continue their three-game road swing tonight when they travel to the Air Canada Centre to play the rival Toronto Rock at 7:00 p.m. The contest is the second of three meetings between two of the oldest rivals in the National Lacrosse League.

Scouting the Knighthawks: Rochester has been led by a trio of rookies this season: Kyle Jackson, Josh Currier and Dan Lomas. Jackson leads the team with 12 assists and 14 points, while Currier is tied for the team lead with five goals and is second with 11 points. Lomas, who has played in two games, is tied for the top spot with five goals and is fourth on the club with eight points. Goalie Matt Vinc made 37 saves last Saturday to give him 117 this season, which is tied for the second most in the NLL.
Here come the Big Guns: The Rochester Knighthawks activated former NLL MVPs Dan Dawson and Cody Jamieson. Dawson is a 16-year pro who ranks fifth all-time in league history in goals (451), assists (767) and points (1,218). Jamieson also adds more firepower to the offense, having amassed 199 goals, 327 assists and 526 points over his six seasons.
Suitor to make Knighthawks debut: Andrew Suitor, who was acquired by the Knighthawks on August 15, will play his first game with his new team tonight. In six seasons in the NLL, Suitor has notched 44 goals, 38 assists, 477 loose balls and 143 faceoff wins in 74 games. In 2012, he was named NLL Transition Player of the Year and a First Team NLL All-Pro.
John Rae to make Pro Debut: The 27-year-old Barrie, Ontario native will make his NLL debut this evening. The defenseman was originally selected by the Colorado Mammoth in the fifth round (42nd overall) of the 2010 NLL Entry Draft. Before being signed by the Knighthawks, Rae attended training camps with Colorado and Vancouver.
Milestone Alert:
- Matt Vinc needs eight saves to become only the fifth player in NLL history to reach 6,000.
- Cody Jamieson needs one goal to reach 200.
- Sid Smith will move ahead of Hall of Famer Jeremy Hollenebeck for eighth on the team's all-time games played list with 112.
- Scott Campbell needs just one game to play in his 100th as a Knighthawk.
- Paul Dawson needs just two games to play in his 150th as a Knighthawk.
- Jarrett Davis needs just two games to play in his 100th as a pro.
- The Knighthawks are only six wins away from reaching the 200-win plateau as a franchise.
Scouting the Rock: Toronto enters the game in second place in the East Division with a 2-0 record. The Rock are coming off a 13-11 victory over the Saskatchewan Rush on Jan. 14. Second-year pro Turner Evans and rookie Tom Schreiber are tied for the team lead with eight points. Goalie Nick Rose is second in the NLL in goals-against average (8.00) and save percentage (.828).
Knighthawks Next Game: The Knighthawks will battle the New England Black Wolves on Friday, Feb. 3 at Mohegan Sun Arena. The 7:30 p.m. contest is the second of four meetings between the two teams. The Knighthawks lead the season series with a 1-0 record, following a 15-8 win on Jan. 7.
Knighthawks Next Home Game: Rochester returns home on Saturday, Feb. 11 to host the Saskatchewan Rush at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the contest, the Knighthawks will hold their Annual Kids Day, which features inflatables, laser tag, face painters, balloon animals and air brush tattoos. Admission to the pregame event and the game are free for kids 12 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket. The offer is limited to three kids tickets for every adult ticket purchased. Fans must have a ticket to enter. The event is presented by Connors & Ferris, Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning, Wilkins RV, Farmers Insurance, Zweigle's and Bill Gray's.
