
Knighthawks acquire goalie Mike Miron from Arizona

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team has acquired goalie Mike Miron from the Arizona Sting in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2007 NLL Draft.
Miron enters his sixth season in the NLL and has spent his entire career with the Columbus/Arizona franchise. He played two seasons with Columbus (2002-03) before the team relocated to Arizona (2004-06). In his career, he has played in 68 regular season games and has a 24-29 record and a 13.00 goals-against average. His 2,081 saves rank in the Top 10 in league history.
Last season, the 26-year-old goalie was 3-3 with a 12.70 goals-against average. In the 2005 playoffs, he made a league-best 113 saves as the Sting advanced to the Champion's Cup Final. That season, he registered a 5-7 record, 13.25 goals-against average and a .740 save percentage. In 2004, he was 7-8 and represented Arizona at the NLL All-Star Game.
The native of Capreol, Ontario, was originally drafted by the Columbus Landsharks in the second round (17th overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft. With Columbus, he was named a member of the 2002 NLL All-Rookie Team.
This summer, Miron won a Mann Cup title with the Peterborough Lakers of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (Major Series).
The Rochester Knighthawks will open their 13th season of professional lacrosse on Saturday, December 30th against the defending National Lacrosse League champion Colorado Mammoth. Game time is set for 9:00 p.m. at the Pepsi Center. The Knighthawks return to action after making their 12th playoff appearance in the team's 12-year history. Last season, Rochester finished with a 9-7 record and advanced to the East Division Finals.
