Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-After being sidelined for six games over two weeks, Waterloo Black Hawks forward Justin Kloos returned to the lineup last weekend, and his six points in two games earned a share of the United States Hockey League's CCM Forward of the Week Award.
Just 90 seconds into Friday's game against the Tri-City Storm, Kloos assisted on a goal by Taylor Cammarata. He finished the contest +1 as Waterloo claimed one standings point in the eventual 6-5 overtime loss. The following night, the University of Minnesota recruit set up the first goal of the game again in Omaha, scored by Mike Huntebrinker during a power play. After the Lancers tied the contest briefly, Kloos made plays to create the next four Waterloo goals as the Hawks rolled to an 8-1 victory. The 19-year-old's five assists in the contest were one shy of a Black Hawks record set by Tom Bissett in 1984/85, nearly a decade before Kloos was born.
Kloos split the Forward of the Week title with Lincoln Stars veteran Luke Johnson. Despite Kloos' time out of the lineup, the Hawks center is currently tied for fourth in USHL scoring with 50 points. His 37 assists lead the league, four ahead of linemate Cammarata. The Forward of the Week Award is the first claimed by Kloos this season, but it represented the fifth time in the last six weeks that a Black Hawk has earned one of the league's weekly honors. Black Hawks players have now been chosen for all or a share of a USHL weekly award on twelve different occasions in 2012/13.
Waterloo concludes a three-game road trip with a visit to Green Bay Friday. The Gamblers will travel to meet the Hawks for a rematch at Young Arena the following night. Contact the Black Hawks for tickets at (319) 291-7680 or order online anytime from waterlooblackhawks.com.
