Sioux City, Iowa - The RailCats banged out 16 hits on their way to a 6-2 victory over Sioux City on Monday night. Gary SouthShore improved to 40-29; the Explorers dropped to 26-43.

The game was scoreless into the top of the fifth inning when the RailCats broke through with three straight hits against Jason Jarvis. Adam Klein's single down the right-field line scored Ryan Brockett from second to take a 1-0 lead for the RailCats.

Sioux City tied it up quickly in the bottom of the fifth. Luke Murton led off the inning with his second hit of the game and was sacrificed to second by Yusuke Inoguchi. Murton scored on Bryan Pounds' RBI double to right-center.

Billy Spottiswood avoided further damage in the fifth by a diving stop by second baseman Nick Liles after the double.

In the sixth, the RailCats bottom third of the order managed to load the bases for a second straight inning against Jason Jarvis. Adam Klein cleared the bases with a double over the head of Yusuke Inoguchi in left field to take a 4-1 lead.

The RailCats finally knocked Jarvis from the game with a pair of runs in the seventh. Craig Maddox cued a ground ball down left field line to score Brian Kolb. After a pitching change Drew Martinez scored another with a base hit to left to make it 6-1 RailCats.

Jarvis allowed six runs on 13 hits and one walk. He struck out five and still has not won since June 30th.

The Explorers had a chance to get back in the game with bases loaded and one out in the seventh. After Spottiswood delivered a wild pitch to make it 6-2, Alberto Espinosa lined into a double play to the first baseman Christian Vitters to avoid further trouble.

The RailCats starter delivered his third straight quality start and his second win in a row. Billy allowed two runs on four hits, a pair of walks and struck out three.

Ian Durham and Marco Gonzalez each delivered a scoreless inning.

Every RailCat except for Mike Massaro and Brian Kolb had two hits in the ball game.

The RailCats continue their six-game road trip tomorrow at Sioux City. LHP Alain Quijano (9-4, 3.66 ERA) will start for the RailCats, the Explorers will send LHP Richard Salazar (5-3, 3.62 ERA) to the mound.
