(PHILADELPHIA)â The Philadelphia KiXX saw their four-game losing streak end in as nine different players found the back of the net in a 9-5 win over the expansion, Chicago Storm.
Today's win avenged the team's loss to Chicago last month which initiated the team's recent downward spiral.
"To do it in this way...it wasn't one of those ugly win type games, it was a game in which we played very well" said KiXX Head Coach Don D'Ambra.
After spotting the Storm an early 2-0 lead on goals by Jorge Valle and former KiXX midfielder Andy Guastaferro, the KiXX began their assault scoring four goals to go into the half with a 4-3 lead.
Guastaferro, who had a big game against his former teammates in Chicago's last visit toe the Wachovia Spectrum, ended the afternoon with three points.
"I'm sure he gets excited coming in here and play against us, said D'Ambra.
"As long as he doesn't kill us, I'm glad to see him do well."
With Chris Fehrle in the box for tripping, the Storm scored twenty-two seconds into the man advantage to knot the score at four apiece.
After Philadelphia reeled off three unanswered goals, the Storm mounted their last attack.
Andy Rosenband scored the second of his two goals two bring Chicago to within two goals at 7-5 at 10:33 of the final stanza.
Philadelphia quickly squelched the Chicago effort with two goals in the next 1:18 by Ptah Myers and Les Lunsford.
Peter Pappas turned away eight of the thirteen shots faced in earning his fourth win of the season.
Chicago goalkeeper Danny Waltman, who came into this afternoon's game leading the MISL in saves (126) and tied for a league-high six wins, stopped seven of the sixteen shots he faced.
As for the losing streak, D'Ambra said he never lost faith.
"The last few couple of games we've been playing well but we saw it coming. We were excited because we were playing better and getting guys back (from injury). Now we have to get some continuity."
"It was a real team effort this afternoon."
The two teams square off again December 17 in Chicago.
