Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia (Sunday, March 14, 2010) -The Philadelphia KiXX (7-10) had a tough outing today against the Rockford Rampage (7-12), suffering a 34-15 defeat at The Liacouras Center. The KiXX still have a shot at the postseason despite the loss, needing to run the table in its final three games coupled with a Rampage win over La RaZa de Monterrey (9-10) next weekend.

Former Philadelphia forward Leo Gibson, who was traded earlier this season to Rockford for a future draft pick, started the scoring in this match when he put away an unassisted power play notch 34 seconds into this contest. Not much time passed before the KiXX equalized at 3:46, with forward Adauto Neto extending his point streak to 16 games on an assist to Ricardinho. Philadelphia then gained its first advantage when forward Jeremy Ortiz headed home a Sandre Naumoski ball at 8:29, but the Rampage evened it at 4-4 on a Geison Moura goal at 12:11.

At 3:29 of the second period, Rockford forward Bato Radoncic scored a pass from defender Eric Lukin to put the Rampage back on top, 6-4. Rockford then pushed its advantage to 9-4 behind a Matthew Stewart to Fred Degand three-pointer, and that tally would stand until the two clubs headed to the locker rooms for halftime.

The KiXX were able to close the gap to 9-6 at the 2:26 mark of the third stanza, with player/coach Don D'Ambra setting up a second knock from Ortiz. Degand then made it 11-6 when he answered at 5:14, but the margin was closed back to three points, 11-8, following a Myers header of a Neto feed at 7:19. At 8:15, a Stewart goal from converted goalkeeper Ante Cop gave the Rampage back a five-point edge, 13-8, and Philadelphia again replied at 13:47 with a Neto to Ryan Heins goal to make it 13-10. Rockford then finished the frame with a pair of late scores, and the road side took a 17-10 advantage into the final 15 minutes of regulation.

Following a couple of early goals for the Rampage in the fourth quarter, veteran defender Pat Morris hit a triple at 1:16 to end a 9-0 Rockford run and make the count 22-13. The two clubs next exchanged goals with Naumoski scoring a fourth Neto assist at 8:26 to hang a 24-15 score.

The KiXX were unable to get the differential any closer the rest of the way, with Rockford eventually recording the 34-15 victory. The 34 points were the most scored against Philadelphia in its 14-year history.

The KiXX will play its next two matches on the road, and the 2009-10 regular season finale will take place on Sunday, March 21st. In addition to a 4:05 p.m. hosting of the Baltimore Blast that day, Philadelphia will retire the #22 jersey of legendary KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas. A free Pappas jersey replica t-shirt will be given to the first 2,000 fans through the gates at The Liacaouras Center, courtesy of NBC-10. Tickets for that historic evening can be purchased today by calling 1-888-888-KiXX or by visiting www.ComcastTix.com.
