
KiXX Sign Philadelphia Native and Temple Product Steve Wacker

Philadelphia, PA, December 2, 2005 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that the club has signed Philadelphia native Steve Wacker to a 15-day/five-game contract, commencing with the club's contest versus the expansion California Cougars on Saturday, December 3. The team also announced the signing of midfielder David Schofield, activating the native of Preston, England for the club's contest on December 3. Per League policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Wacker, a Temple University graduate, was named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Academic Player of the Year after his senior season of 2004. A kinesiology major, he owned a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average and was previously honored with Academic All-Atlantic 10 and ESPN The Magazine Second Team All-America accolades. The Owls team captain and four-year starter enjoyed his best offensive season in 2004, tallying two goals and four assists for eight points.
The 22-year-old midfielder most recently competed with the Ocean City Barons in the Premier Development League (PDL), where he appeared in 13 games during the 2005 season. Wacker joins KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra, all-star defender Pat Morris, and fellow rookie midfielder Tim O'Neill as an alumnus of Northeast Catholic High School.
A product of Long Island University, Schofield officially joins the club after recently finalizing his registration with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). The 24-year-old midfielder recorded four goals and 10 assists for 18 points in 27 games with the Harrisburg City Islanders of the United Soccer League (USL) Second Division in 2005. He was named to the USL Second Division Team of the Week for his play in Week 14 and also earned weekly honors three times with the Islanders in 2004.
Schofield earned All-Northeast Conference recognition for three consecutive seasons (2001-2003) and All-Region honors in 2003 during his three years at Long Island University. He also played for the English Schoolboy Under-18 National Team.
The KiXX entertain the expansion California Cougars for the second and final time of the 2005-06 season on Saturday, December 3. The first 5,000 fans will receive a complimentary 2005-06 Philadelphia KiXX Team Photo, courtesy of Baum Printing; there will also be a full-team autograph session on the concourse immediately following the conclusion of the action. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET and will be televised live on CN8, The Comcast Network beginning at 7:00 pm ET.
