Philadelphia, PA, January 29, 2008 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today the selection of five players, including the club's first selection, San Diego, CA, native Derek Hobson in the 2008 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) College Draft. The team also acquired the rights to Damian Wilson, Danilo Schiavon, Sobhan Tadjalli, and Dan Stevens.
All nine active MISL teams participated in the draft. Teams that participated last season were ranked in reverse order of last seasons' year-end win-loss percentage, while expansion teams participating in their first season of play drafted ahead of all existing teams and were ranked in reverse order of their current season standings. The Orlando Sharks received the first pick, followed by the Monterrey La Raza, New Jersey Ironmen, California Cougars, Baltimore Blast, Milwaukee Wave, KiXX, Chicago Storm, and Detroit Ignition.
The complete round-by-round breakdown of the KiXX selections is as follows:
Round Player Position College/University
Territorial Derek Hobson M University of Pennsylvania
One Damon Wilson F Monmouth University
Two Danilo Schiavon M Quinnipiac University
Three Sobhan Tadjalli F University of Delaware

Philadelphia kicked-off the draft selecting Hobson with the seventh overall pick in the territorial round. Hobson, a San Diego native, was Penn's leading scorer during the 2007 season with four goals and four assists. Hobson was named to the All-Ivy Second Team for the third consecutive year, and was named to the Philadelphia Soccer Seven All-Star team for the first time. Hobson played in all 16 games for the Quakers this season.
Wilson, the club's first round selection (16th overall), is a Swedesboro, NJ native who played forward for Monmouth University. Wilson led the Hawks with seven goals and six assists in just 18 games. For his efforts, Wilson was named to the 2007 NSCAA/Adidas Division 1 All-North Atlantic Regional Team. Wilson attended St. Andrew's High School in Delaware, where he holds the school's career record in goals with 86.
In the second round, 25th overall, the KiXX took Quinnipiac University's Danilo Schiavon, a midfielder from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Schiavon finished second on the team in scoring during the 2007 season, with six goals and three assists in 16 games. Schiavon was named to the 2007 NSCAA/Adidas North Atlantic All-Region Third Team and to the All-NEC First Team.
The club selected forward Sobhan Tadjalli from the University of Delaware in the third round, 34th overall. A native of Hockessin, DE, Tadjalli scored one goal in 16 games for the Blue Hens. Before the season began, Tadjalli was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team after scoring nine goals his junior year.
Philadelphia rounded out their selections by taking Dan Stevens from the University of Buffalo, 43rd overall. The forward scored three goals and chipped in two assists in 14 games for the Bulls last season. A native of Liverpool, NY, Stevens attended Liverpool High School and earned All-CNY and All-Section honors. Stevens was named to the All-MAC First Team during his senior season after being named to the All-MAC Second Team as a junior.
