Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, September 21, 2005 - Today, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced the 2005-2006 regular-season schedule for the Philadelphia KiXX. The club kicks-off their 10th season of professional indoor soccer versus the expansion California Cougars on Saturday, November 12. The first 5,000 patrons to enter the gates at the Wachovia Spectrum will receive a complimentary magnetic schedule. Game-time is slated for 7:05 pm ET, with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.
The 30-game schedule consists of 15-home and 15-road dates, commencing with the club's home opener on November 12 and concluding on Sunday, April 9 versus the Chicago Storm at the UIC Pavilion. Prior to the November 12 contest, Head Coach Troy Dayak and the California Cougars will kick-off their inaugural season versus the Baltimore Blast at 1st Mariner Arena on Friday, November 11.
The majority of the season's home schedule features weekend dates, with 14 of the 15 (93.3%) outings taking place on Saturday evening. The lone exception is Wednesday, February 8 when the KiXX battle their I-95 rivals, the Baltimore Blast, in the club's 11th Annual School Day Game. The innovative program, sponsored in part by Philadelphia Newspapers In-Education, offers school-age youth educational elements combined with the excitement of professional indoor soccer.
In addition to the team's school-day matinee, the 2005-06 home schedule will also feature various promotional giveaways including team photos, replica jersey T-shirts, mini-soccer balls, bobbleheads, rally towels and dance team calendars. The club will also host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout Night and Christian Night which includes a post-game concert.
Looking at a month-by-month breakdown, the KiXX begin the season with three contests in November and four in the month of December. The club then brings in the New Year with six outings in January, seven contests in both February and March, and three dates in April to close out the campaign.
Overall, the KiXX compete in eight back-to-back contests; four of which feature an away contest in the first match of the set, followed by a home game, while the remaining four series consist of a home outing followed by a road date.
