KiXX vs. New Jersey

1st Meeting in Clubs History

New Jersey's brand new expansion club is coached by former KiXX player/coach and all-time assist leader Omid Namazi. Namazi's roster includes three former MLS players, four former KiXX players, and 17 players who did not play in the MISL last season. Namazi last coached the St. Louis Steamers during the 2005-06 season. The Ironmen are led by former U.S. goalie during the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, Tony Meola, who holds a 4-2 record with a 10.89 PAA. Dan Antoniuk, another former KiXX player, leads not only the team but the MISL in goals with 12 through eight games. Goran Vasic, yet another former KiXX standout leads the team as well as the League with 11 assists.

KiXX vs. Orlando

1st Meeting in Clubs History

The expansion Sharks are coached by Jake Dancy, a former MLS and MISL standout. The Sharks roster include 15 rookies, and just five players with MISL experience. Paul Nagy (0-5, 15.58 PAA) and Antonio Iriarte (0-4, 13.65) have split time in net. J.P. Rodrigues leads the team with eight goals in nine games. Jorge Valle, who most recently has played with the Chicago Storm, leads the club with 15 blocks. The Sharks had originally selected Jonathan Steele from the Baltimore Blast in the MISL Expansion Draft, but traded him to Philadelphia for the KiXX selection, Gaston Pernia before the season.

Last Week's Outing(s):

KiXX 8, Wave 14 (12/7) - Philadelphia took the lead for the first time on a John Barry Nusum goal 35 seconds into the third quarter, but could not stop the Wave attack which scored four unanswered goals to finish the game 14-8. Three of Philadelphia's four goal scorers recorded their first two-pointers of the season. Wendell Regis, Drew Kopp, and John Barry Nusum all netted their first of the season in the KiXX loss. Tony Donatelli also scored, his sixth in seven games this season. Player/coach Don D'Ambra contributed two assists, bringing his season total to nine, good for first on the team. Milwaukee was led by 2006-07 All-Rookie selection Marcio Leite and Marcelo Fontana, who each recorded a goal and two assists. Seven different Wave players recorded the seven goals scored. Leite was credited with the game winner. Nick Vorberg stopped six of the nine shots he faced, while the defense blocked nine Philadelphia shots. Milwaukee outshot Philadelphia 25-19. David Castellanos missed his fourth straight game with a high ankle sprain.

KiXX 2, Storm 9 (12/8) - The KiXX dropped their third straight decision tonight to the Chicago Storm in front of 5,873 fans at the Wachovia Spectrum. Chicago's defense, which allowed 9.5 points per game coming into the match, held Philadelphia to just one goal. The road team has won the last seven matches between the two clubs. The first place Storm made their presence felt immediately in Philadelphia, when Mariano Bollella scored just 51 seconds into the game. Fabinho set up Bollella's fifth of the season. After a scoreless second quarter, the Storm took the 2-0 lead into halftime. Pat Morris tied the game at two for the KiXX at 3:33 of the third quarter when the team captain scored on a rebound off of an Angel Rivillo shot. The goal was Morris' fourth of the season. With just 58 seconds remaining in the quarter, 2006-07 All-Rookie selection Stephen Armstrong gave the Storm the lead for good with his fifth of the season. Bollella was credited with the assist. At 10:26 of the fourth quarter, Aaron Susi was assessed a tripping penalty. Chicago capitalized 28 seconds later when Armstrong and Bollella teamed up again to take a 6-2 lead against the best penalty killing unit in the MISL. Less than a minute later, Carlos Farias launched a midfield shot over the head of KiXX keeper Peter Pappas, his sixth goal of the season and first three-pointer. Philadelphia outshot Chicago 23-18. The Storm were without Mark Ughy, the sixth leading scorer in the MISL, who broke his foot in a November 30 match against Orlando. Wendell Regis recorded the 400th block of his 11 year career.
