
KiXX Fall to the Steamers in St. Louis, 5-2

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia KiXX (6-16) were defeated by former player/coach Omid Namazi and the St. Louis Steamers (17-5) by a score of 5-2 in front of 7,625 patrons at the Savvis Center. Shaun David recorded the game-winning goal on an assist from Joe Reiniger at 11:47 of the third period. Peter Pappas (6-14) took the loss in net for Philadelphia with 17 saves on 22 chances, while Brett Phillips earned the victory for the Steamers with eight saves on 10 shots faced.
Midfielder Sterling Wescott connected on the only score of the opening quarter of play, registering a score on a pass from teammate Reiniger at 7:46 of the frame to give the hosting Steamers an early 1-0 advantage.
Ptah Myers knotted the score, 1-1, with an unassisted tally at 2:15 of the second stanza, but Carlos Farias responded to regain the one-goal lead for St. Louis at 5:22.
Defender Drew Kopp found the back of the net on a feed from Northeast Catholic alum Pat Morris to again knot the score even, 2-2, at 8:32 of the third period. The Steamers would record the game's final three goals to earn a 5-2 victory. David struck first on Reiniger's second assist of the day at 11:47, followed by fourth-quarter scores from Michael Apple (8:24) and Jamar Beasley (11:47).
Courtesy of the KiXX loss, both the Baltimore Blast and the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Milwaukee Wave secure a spot in the 2006 playoffs. With St. Louis previously earned a position in postseason play with the Chicago Storm, Philadelphia and the California Cougars all vying for the lone remaining spot.
The KiXX return to the City of Brotherly Love to entertain St. Louis on Saturday, March 18. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is slated for 7:05 pm ET with the action televised live on CN8, The Comcast Network. There will also be a live auction of the team's game-worn jerseys following the conclusion of the contest with all proceeds benefiting Children's Miracle Network at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
