KiXX Defeat Baltimore Blast in Pre-Season Exhibtion

Philadelphia, PA, September 28, 2004 – The Philadelphia KiXX defeated the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Baltimore Blast in a pre-season exhibition at the club's annual "Meet the Team Party" tonight. The contest was held at Tri-State Sports, the team's official practice facility, in Aston, PA.

Philadelphia jumped to 5-0 advantage, before Blast forward Denison Cabral broke the shutout at 3:48 of the second quarter. KiXX forward Goran Vasic opened the scoring at 3:14 of the first period, followed by a strike from teammate Joel Shanker at 3:59. Philadelphia player/coach Don D'Ambra then connected with Shanker to conclude the first stanza with the KiXX leading, 3-0.

Shanker notched his second goal of the contest on a feed from forward Shawn Boney at 1:22 of the second period, extending the club's advantage to 4-0. Kevin Sloan then sandwiched the Cabral tally with a pair of goals, both of which were assisted by defender Jeremy Aldrich. Philadelphia-native Pat Morris concluded the first half of action with a goal from Vasic to lengthen the team's advantage to 7-1.

The club exchanged goals in the third quarter, as the KiXX held a 9-3 lead entering the final stanza of play. Camp prospects Steve Fisher and Devlin Barnes registered scores for Philadelphia, while Allen Eller and Lee Tschantret struck for the Blast.

Fisher added his second tally of the game to extend the team's advantage to seven, 10-3, at 3:01 of the fourth period. Baltimore then rattled off three unanswered scores, but Philadelphia held onto the victory, 10-6. Cabral struck for the second and third time of the night, followed by a tally from Billy Nelson.

The KiXX will next kick-off their ninth season of professional indoor soccer on the road for two contests, before returning to the Wachovia Spectrum to entertain Baltimore for the club's home opener on Saturday, November 6. Game-time for the 2004-05 home opener is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET.

The Philadelphia KiXX are a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization that features a coast-to-coast presence across the United States. The club will enter its ninth season of play in 2004-05 at the Wachovia Spectrum located in Philadelphia, PA.
