Philadelphia, PA, October 23, 2007 - The defending MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX (0-1) lost to the Baltimore Blast (1-0) in the first game of the 2007-08 MISL regular season on October 19. Blast rookie Michael Todd scored twice in his MISL debut, including the game winner in front of 10,115 fans at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore. Philadelphia will have two weeks to regroup before heading to Detroit to take on the Ignition in the rematch of the 2007 MISL Championship Game on November 3.

The KiXX November 3 match with the Detroit Ignition will be a rematch of the 2007 MISL Championship Game, which the KiXX won by a score of 13-8 for the second title in club history. The game will also be Detroit's season opener. The Ignition will return several key members for the franchise's sophomore season, including 2006-07 MISL MVP Jamar Beasley and rookie standout Worteh Sampson. Starting in net will be Danny Waltman, who saw limited playing time last season while backing up Sanaldo, who was traded this offseason to the California Cougars for the second overall pick in the 2007 MISL Expansion Draft. With that selection, the Ignition took former Milwaukee Wave defender Chad Dombrowski to bolster the back line.
New Faces: Philadelphia welcomes eight new players to a team that won 17 games last season, and went 3-1 in the playoffs to win the championship.

Susi was selected first overall in the 2007 MISL Expansion Draft, after Philadelphia traded the playing rights of Genoni Martinez and Dino Delevski to Monterrey for their four expansion picks ... Steele was selected third overall in the Expansion Draft by the Orlando Sharks, and was then flipped to the KiXX for the seventh overall pick Gaston Pernia ... Rivillo was selected 10th overall by the KiXX in the Expansion Draft ... Regis was signed as a discovery player in training camp after playing last season with the Baltimore Blast ... Heins (Temple University), Williams (Philadelphia University), Marples (Towson University), and Hovaker II (Mount Olive College) are all first-year professional indoor players.
Defending the Title: Philadelphia returns club cornerstones Don D'Ambra and Peter Pappas, who are looking for a chance to repeat as champions ... the player/coach and Goalkeeper-of-the-Year are surrounded by a mix of rookies and veterans ... Perennial All-League Defender Pat Morris and veteran defender Drew Kopp return this season to provide experience to the defensive corps ... John Barry Nusum and 2006-07 All-Rookie selection Tony Donatelli return to provide much of the scoring punch ... midfielders Ptah Myers and Sandre Naumoski will provide depth and speed on the floor ... the KiXX lost Shawn Boney to the Orlando Sharks in the expansion Draft, selected ninth overall ... as mentioned above, Martinez and Delevski were shipped to Monterrey for four expansion picks ... the trio combined for 46 goals last season.
Expansion Teams: The MISL has expanded by 50% for the 2007-08 season ... the Orlando Sharks, New Jersey Ironmen, and Monterrey La Raza will all join play this season ... Orlando will play at Amway Arena, coached by former MISL player Jake Dancy ... the Ironmen will play at the brand new Prudential Center, coached by former KiXX standout Omid Namazi ... Monterrey will play out of Arena Monterrey, led by Eric Geyer ... New Jersey made the biggest splash this offseason by signing former US goalie Tony Meola for the 2007-08 season.
Fox Soccer Channel: The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and Fox Soccer Channel announced the "Game of the Week" telecast schedule for the 2007/08 season ... the 20-game schedule - the most comprehensive national television coverage in the league's seven-year history - features all U.S.-based MISL teams appearing at least four times ... most matches will air live on Fridays during the 8-10:00 p.m. ET broadcast window ... the 20-match regular season telecast schedule kicks off on Friday, November 16 with the three-time MISL champion Baltimore Blast hosting the expansion La Raza, live at 8:00 p.m. ET ... the complete schedule, listed below, concludes on March 28, 2008, with the Chicago Storm hosting the California Cougars.
