Kivlenieks, Jungwirth Receive Honorable Mentions

February 29, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Coulee Region Chill News Release

Goalie Matiss Kivlenieks and forward Larry Jungwirth both received honorable mentions from the NAHL after their 4-1 victory against the Minnesota Wilderness.

Kivlenieks, native of Riga, Latvia, successfully beat the defending Robertson Cup Champions for the third consecutive time in seven days last Friday night. In the 4-1 victory he stopped 41/42 pucks, letting in his lone goal of the game in the second period at the 16:30 mark. Kivlenieks is now 9-1 (12-8 on the season) since New Years Eve with one no decision.

Jungwirth, native of Bloomington, MN, continues to prove to be one of the missing pieces the Chill needed when he was acquired in the late-December trade with the Minnesota Magicians. After a goal and two assists last weekend he added another two helpers in this weekends victory against the Wilderness. His first assist came on Matt Doran's first-period goal to put the Chill up 1-0 and on Justin Kendall's empty netter to cap the night off with four goals for the Coulee Region. Jungwirth now has four goals and eight assists since joining the Chill right before the New Year.

The Chill are back in action this weekend in La Crosse as they welcome the Kenai River Brown Bears to town for a two-game series. Puck drops at 7pm both Friday and Saturday night. Head over to the ticket page and receive your ticket for $1 off the gate price!
