Kissimmee Kreatures News Release

LAKELAND, Fla. – Centurion Sports Management, LLC announced today that they have named Orlando area native Marquette Smith as head coach of it’s National Indoor Football League franchise in Kissimmee, FL.

“I’m thrilled to become the first head coach in franchise history,” said Smith. “Hopefully my experience and success on the field will translate into success as a head coach. It’s a great challenge and I can’t wait to get started.”

Smith’s playing career led him from Lake Howell High School where he was one of the top athletes in the country, to the Garnet and Gold of Bobby Bowden’s Florida State Seminoles and a National Championship in 1993. After two seasons at FSU, Smith finished his collegiate career at the University of Central Florida and was drafted in the 5th round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

Stops in the NFL Europe, the Canadian Football League, the Arena Football League, and two seasons in the NIFL culminated Smith’s professional career that spanned seven seasons.

“Marquette is a perfect fit in Kissimmee,” said CSM President Tony Pewonski. “His reputation and accomplishments speak for themselves and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board.”
