Kissaw Honored for Third Straight Week
October 12, 2009 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Marquette Rangers News Release
Marquette Marquette Rangers goaltender Kevin Kissaw has been one of the main reasons the team is off to an 8 2 start to the North American Hockey League season.
The NAHL has recognized this for the third consecutive week, naming Kissaw the GDI Goalie of The Week for his performance this past weekend.
Kisssaw is the first Rangers goaltender in franchise history to be given this league honor in three consecutive weeks.
Kissaw pitched his second consecutive shutout of the young season Friday, stopping all 40 shots he faced in Marquettes 3 0 win over Alpena. The Goodrich, Michigan native then gave up only two goals on 27 shots in the teams 3 1 loss on Saturday. Alpenas third goal was an empty net effort to ice the win.
"Kevin played great both nights, said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller. He continues to work hard every day in practice, and its carrying over into games. To only allow two goals in 120 minutes says a lot about his talent.
For the season, Kissaw sports a 7 2 record, with a league best 1.43 goals against average and a save percentage of .961.
The Rangers and Alpena play home and home this weekend; playing Friday at Northern Lights Arena before returning to Marquette for Saturdays annual Paint the Rink Pink fundraiser for the Cancer Center at Marquette General Health Systems.
