Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, proud affiliates of the Florida Panthers and San Antonio Rampage, announced on Tuesday the signing of defenseman Tim Billingsley. Billingsley is a hard-hitting 6'2, 207 pound defenseman who will suit up for the Bees in 2011-12.
Billingsley joins the Bees after a five year Ontario Hockey League (OHL) career. Billingsley was one of the top OHL defensemen, who in his final season finished an impressive +15. Billingsley added three goals and nine assists during his final OHL season. He was also drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Billingsley will initially report to the San Antonio Rampage training camp at the end of this month.
"This is just a great example of our affiliation already paying dividends. Tim is still a great prospect and he is 100% ready for the professional game. After San Antonio camp I expect Tim to be one of our top guys," said Killer Bees General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He is as hard-hitting as they come and I expect him to get a lot of ice time. Tim does not back down from anything."
The Killer Bees season opens October 21st against the Missouri Mavericks at State Farm Arena. Full and half season tickets are now on sale by calling 956-843-7825 or visiting the all-new killerbeehockey.com.
