Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today released goaltender Mike Gorman in order to make room on the roster for defenseman Nathan Ansell.

Gorman, in his ninth pro season, signed with the Bees on October 10 but did not see any game action. "It all comes down to the salary cap," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "Mike is a talented goaltender who worked hard while he was here. This is just one of those tough decisions that had to be made."

The roster moves allows the team sign defenseman Nathan Ansell, a 22-year-old rookie who played four years of Div. 1 college hockey at Western Michigan University, where he played under Brooks and Broncos Head Coach Jim Culhane. His totals include 145 games, 42 points (9-33-42) and 118 PIM. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder appeared in one game with ECHL Fresno this season.

"Nathan is a kid I've known for a number of years now, going all the way back to when I sat with him at the rink in Sarnia, Ontario, to recruit him for Western Michigan," Brooks said. "He skates well, has a great hockey mind, moves the puck well; he brings everything we need at this point."
