HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that equipment manager Doug Tretiak has accepted a similar position with the Houston Aeros (AHL). The Aeros are the primary affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
Tretiak served three seasons behind the bench with the Killer Bees and was recognized as one of the most thorough equipment managers in the league. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native is within reach of 1000 games behind the bench.
"Equipment managers often go unnoticed by the fans but they are integral to the success of the team," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "Whoever takes Doug's place here has a lot to live up to. I'm excited that Doug has this opportunity and wish him well."
Tretiak has worked for teams in the Western Professional Hockey League, International Hockey League, AHL and National Hockey League. He started his career as a visiting team attendant with the Winnipeg Jets in 1987.
