Killer Bees Add Two More to Roster

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, proud affiliates of the Florida Panthers and San Antonio Rampage, announced on tHURSDAY the signing of an additional two players for the 2011-12 season. The Bees have brought forward Brandon Campos (5'10, 185) and defenseman Sam Cannata (6'2, 205) on board.

Campos comes to the Bees have three seasons with the University of British Columbia where he registered 38 points in 60 games including finishing tied for the team lead in points during the 2009-10 season where he scored eight goals with 13 assists for 21 points.

Before lacing up for UBC, Campos played two seasons in the Western Hockey League including a phenomenal 26 goal, 47 assist season in 2007-08 mostly with the Chilliwack Bruins. Before being traded to the Bruins in 2007 Campos suited up for the Everett Silvertips alongside current Killer Bees forward Dan Gendur. During the 2006-07 season Campos registered 10 goals and 14 assists.

"Brandon is obviously a very talented forward who I am excited to have joining our team," said Killer Bees General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "His numbers in the WHL are great and he was one of the top point scorers for British Columbia."

The Killer Bees also announced the Sam Cannata will join the Bees for the 2011-12 season. Cannata finished a four-year career at Salem State College. Cannata was named MASCAC All-Conference Second Team during his junior and senior seasons where he anchored the best penalty kill unit in the MASCAC.

"Sam is another big talented blueliner for our team," continued Ruskowski. "I've been looking for size the entire off-season and Sam is just another piece of the puzzle for our defense. I'm excited for him as a contributor."

The Killer Bees ninth season of play is set to open October 21st when the Killer Bees host the Missouri Mavericks at the State Farm Arena at 7:30 p.m. The Bees training camp opens October 10th, also at State Farm Arena.
